Andrew Christopher Dispensa was born in Yorktown Heights, New York. In his early youth he developed a love for film, basketball and his heritage. After high school he attended Elon University in North Carolina, where he graduated with a BA in Cinema Production and a minor in Italian Studies. It was at Elon where he took his first acting class and began acting in his fellow film major's productions. After teaching English for a year in Rome, he was accepted to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a 2 year conservatory program. Upon graduating, he went on to work with the Academy's Company for their 2014-2015 season.
Since leaving AADA, Andy has worked on a variety of projects, from theatre to feature film. He played 'Pantalone' in The Commedia Rapunzel, a huge NY International Fringe Festival hit which ran for 9 months off-broadway at The Soho Playhouse (Winner of The OBA for Best Off-Broadway Family Show.) He has worked with the award-winning Douglas Carter Beane in his new musical Hood, where he played 'Alan Adale', a role he originated at the Scranton Shakespeare Festival. He has also worked with the Ophelia Theatre Company in Astoria, Queens in several productions, including the world premieres of Mary’s Little Monster (Thomas Kee) and Your Alice (Billie Aken Tyers). In 2016 Andy filmed his first feature film supporting role with 2014 Cannes newcomer Marvin Van Buren in his new film Contents Under Pressure. He also played one of the leads in Crashlight an off-broadway musical at the historic Cherry Lane which ran 3 weeks from August to September 2016. In February of 2018 Andy produced, directed and acted in his first full length play The Hound, The Hare and The Hallway at The Hudson Guild in Chelsea.
Andy currently freelances with Ann Wright Representatives, Rave Talent Management, and Surface Model Management.
